hello

I am interested in getting a taxidermist license. what do i need to do? i have been learning by reading many different books. I have done some deer and one turkey and people seen them and said i did a real good job. Is it that easy to get the license. If so why does the game commission want so much. I didnt go to school but i think with more practice i could get much better. I need some questions answered.

1. what is the act of 2006?

2. what is penalties of 18 pa.c.s.a. section 4904.

I hope to become a member and get my license so i could open my own shop one day. thank you for your time. I have listed my email and would like some more information.

once again thank you for your time.

John,
You can get started by applying for a sales tax id # and then fill out paper work through the Dept. of Agriculture, that is who does the license. If you have only done a few mounts I would suggest that you join the PTA and attend some of our competitions before you get a license. The Cabela's mini show is coming up in 3 weeks in Hamburg, or try the Harrisburg mini show, and our big show is in Altoona in March. This will give you an idea of just how good you are.

Get some training from a good taxidermist. You will probably have to pay them for their time but it will be well worth it. Very few people can learn every thing they need out of a book, hands on training is what most of us need.

If you attend a show, look me up. Good Luck
