Competition Rules for all PTA Competitions
IMPORANT NOTE: This is a general listing of the competition rules. Chnages may have been made that are not included in the following.

Participation in any PTA Competition gives permission to the PTA, photographer, and its affiliates the rights to photograph and use photos of your competition entries in future and all publications.

V. PTA Competition
- TAXIDERMY BEST OF SHOW (Judges Choice) utilizing the Best of Category winners from all taxidermy divisions, the judges will select the Best of Show. The winner will receive a ribbon and a check for $1,500.00. The winner must be present at the banquet to collect prize money.**
- TAXIDERMIST OF THE YEAR (Judges Choice) Utilizing the Best of Category winners from the Master Division, the judges will select the Taxidermist of the Year. Winner will receive a trophy at the banquet. **
- WILDLIFE ART BEST OF SHOW (Judges Choice) Utilizing the Best of Category winners from all art divisions, the judges will select the Wildlife Art Best of Show. The winner will received the Ned Smith Award. **
- WILDLIFE ARTIST OF THE YEAR (Judges Choice) Utilizing the Best of Category winners from Master Division, the Judges will select Wildlife Artist of the Year. Winner will receive a trophy at the banquet. **
- BEST ALL-AROUND TAXIDERMIST - Professional Division - A trophy will be awarded to the Professional Individual receiving a ribbon in four categories and collecting the highest point total with those four mounts. The four categories must include: a Gamehead, a Bird, a Fish or Reptile, and a life-size mammal.
- TAXIDERMIST CHOICE AWARD** - Voted on by the PTA members attending the annual convention. Only 1 winner.
- PEOPLE'S CHOICE - Voted on by the PTA membership and the public in attendance at the convention. Each person will select one piece which they have chosen as the best. The entries with the most points will receive ribbons for First, Second and Third Place People's Choice.
- SPECIAL AWARDS - The judges select the best entry for each special award and submit that entry number to the competition chairman. **
The Special Awards Are: (partial listing)
- The PA Fish and Boat Commission Award - awarded to the best fish mount at the competition.
- Jack Wilson Memorial Award - Sponsored by the PTA and awarded to the best bird mount at the competition.
- Ducks Unlimited Award - awarded to the best waterfowl mount at the competition.
- The National Wild Turkey Federation Award - awarded to the best turkey mount at the competition.
- Safari Club International Award - awarded to the best large, life-size mammal at the competition. If a large, life-size mammal is not eligible to win this award, the best small, life-size mammal at the competition will win the award.
- Pennsylvania Trappers Association Award - awarded to the best furbearer at the competition. Wolves will also be eligible for this award even though they are in the large, life-size mammal category.
- Wasco Award - most artistic award.
- Freeze-Dry Award - for the highest attained score for a totally freeze-dried entry.
- Ruffed Grouse Society Award - awarded to the best Grouse at the competition. If a grouse is not eligible it goes to the best eligible woodcock at the competition.
- Rising Star Award - Awarded to the highest scoring mount in the Jr. Amateur Division.
- BEST OF CATEGORY - In the Jr. Amateur, Amateur, Professional, and Master Divisions the judges will select the best entry in each division category to receive the Best of Category ribbons / plaques. The Best of Category ribbons / plaques go only to the First Place / Blue Ribbon entry in each division category. Each Best of Category winner in the professional and Master Divisions at the annual convention competition will also receive a $150.00 check. Each Best of Category winner in the Jr. Amateur and Amateur Divisions at the Annual Convention competition will also receive a paid year subscription to Breakthrough. **
** Only awarded at the Convention Competition. The Mini-Competitions will advertise what each show offers as special awards. Various suppliers awards will also be awarded at the Convention Competition.
