VI. General Rules
- The PTA Convention Committee reserves the right to restrict, change, or alter specific rules when it is deemed appropriate in order to maintain the high standards of the PTA Competition.
- It is assumed by the Competition Committee that the major portion of the entry is the work of the registrant.
- Mini-Competitions
- A competition piece cannot be taken to any PTA "mini-competition" if it has been judged at the PTA Annual Convention Competition or any other State, Regional, National, or "World Show". This would be a "step-down" competition piece. If you identify a piece you feel is a "step-down" piece, notify the Competition Committee ASAP. If the competition committee labels a piece a "step-down" piece, it will not be judged and the entry fee will not be refunded.
- You cannot enter a previously entered piece in a different division.
State Convention Competition
- Any piece may be entered as long as it has not been previously entered in a PA State Show. * * This includes pieces from Regional, Nationals, and the World Show. * *
- The "step-down" rule doesn't apply at this level.
- You cannot enter a previously entered piece in a different division.
- Any competition piece containing a "group" (more than one specimen) must pay an entry fee for each specimen you want judged, otherwise, only one of the specimens (of your choice) will be judged and only that specimen can receive a ribbon.
- The competitioin entry fee is $30.00 for each piece entered. There is an additional $30.00 entry fee if the "habitat" with the piece is to be judged. Competition pieces that have been entered and paid for but for some reason have not been brought to the competition will not receive a refund. (Mini-Competition entry fees are $25.00 for the 1st piece and $15.00 for any other pieces.)
- The number of entries per category is unlimited.
- There will be pre-registration of competition pieces. (Please mark your calendar!) Competition pre-registraion must be made by mail. Competition pre-registration will not be accepted by phone.
- Protected species need proper permits attached to specimens entered.
- Entries contained in cases must have removable top and/or sides for judging.
- Any mount found to be in poor taste, or demeaning to the public or any organization will be removed from the competition.
- FATAL FLAW - Anything judged "fatal flaw" by a qualified judge will be given a score sheet but cannot receive a ribbon. Any piece "fatal flawed" and in any way offensive to the show will be removed. This includes odor. No judge will be forced to judge a piece that is offensive or odoriferrous.
- Entries must remain for the duration of the Competition. Entries must be picked up only at the posted times and the participants must show their receipt card(s) for each entry. The PTA will not be responsible for any competition piece(s) that are not picked up.
- Any questions arising from the PTA competition will be resolved by the Competition Committee, and their decision will be final.
- Protests - Any competitor may request a protest judgement for a $30 fee. The protest judgement is the FINAL judgement. The competition chairman will select a qualified protest judge in that category.
